Last week, “Kiva,” a 13-year-old female mix, chased something into a culvert under Rock Lake Road in the Bar-K subdivision. She became stuck in the partially-filled culvert and exhausted herself trying to turn around to get out. Her caregiver called 911 for assistance.
Lefthand Fire Protection District firefighters removed a lot of dirt from the culvert, and with the help of the Boulder Emergency Squad and a treat taped to the end of a long pole, BCSO Animal Control Officer Brandy was eventually able to coax her out.
Kiva was tired and thirsty, but was not injured. Thanks to everyone who helped make this story a happy ending.
